Charlie Y. Shi, Venture Partner

Charlie is currently the Managing Director of China Assets Management limited. China Assets is the investment manager of China Assets Holdings limited, a Hong Kong based private equity fund with focus on Mainland China. Prior to China Assets, Charlie was a Partner at SOFTBANK China Venture Capital based in mainland China and Hong Kong. Prior to that, Charlie was the Deputy Managing Director of an investment advisory and management company under the China Insurance (Hong Kong) Group, one of the largest insurance holding groups in Hong Kong. While there, Charlie sourced, evaluated, directed and monitored investments in areas including technology, real estate and financial instruments.

Prior to China Insurance, Charlie spent six years at Merrill Lynch where he was responsible for investment management, tax and estate planning and marketing for corporations and high net worth clients. During his time there, Charlie developed and maintained close relationships with the hi-tech entrepreneurs in Southern California, Silicon Valley, Hong Kong and venture capitalists. On the basis of those relationships, Charlie has been active among entrepreneurs and technology companies in identifying promising business ideas, defining corporate strategies, building management teams, developing business plans and raising funding capital from institutional sources. Throughout his professional career, Charlie has helped manage investments of more than $500 million.

Charlie attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and holds a B.A. in Economics from Fudan University and an M.B.A. from California Lutheran University.
